Newsflash: Team Carc have been replaced with team The Pimps. Team Carc left without paying in week 1 and then were a no show in week 2. The new team is from clondalkin and are named The Pimps. A relyable set of lads and they have a very good experianced side. They will strenghtin an already strong league and ensure now that it will be very difficult for all the teams to finish in the top 4 places. Team The Pimps will start having taken one of Carc's previous reults in week one, Team The Pimps will now have 6 games left starting with their first game vs The Best tomorrow night the 19th of May at 8pm in the coldcut. The walkover given to Cabra last week is now void as team The Pimps have now taken over from Carc.

Keepitonthedeck 4-21 Return of the Mack

Monday night the 18th of May saw the highest scoring victory to date in the Parmo7aside league as Return of the Mack cruised home to a 21 goal to 4 victory over a patched up Keepitonthedeck side who were missing key player Keith Conroy  as well as Connor Byrne and Stephen Cronin. The weather conditions were horrendous as the water poured down onto the Coldcut Astro Park and unfortunately for Keepitonthedeck the game itself done nothing to liven them as Return of the Mack star man Johno Boyle set about to destroy  them.

Following an undisciplined display the previous week were Keepitonthedeck’s players decided to camp up front for the entire game Derek Kavanagh set his team up in positions and all with a job to do. The Keepitonthedeck game plan was ignored however as once again Jamie Garamanali and Sean Daly went AWOL in defence exposing their side at the back and leaving Daniel Kalo helpless in the goal. Indeed the lack of respect and attitude of the Keepitonthedeck team was epitomized by Jason Nutty who walked off the pitch 10 minutes from the end after spending much of the game moaning and sulking. It is after all only Astro park football so this attitude is entirely out of order.

The game itself was a none contest,3 goals by Jay Nutty and 1 from Jamie Garamanli were mere consolation as Return of the Mack were never in doubt of losing this one. A hat trick from John Macdonald was added to by Gary Kealy, Mark Kavanagh and 4 strikes apiece from Mark Lordon and Emmet Fitzpatrick. Two of Fitzpatrick’s goals particularly spring to mind as he celebrated both in egad rated fashion jumping up and down the side netting following strike’s which had seen him disposes Jason Nutty with ease on one occasion and then disposes Nutty again before nut megging him and slotting home past Daniel Kalo.

The remaining 8 goals were scored by man of the match Jonathon Boyle who simply ran the Keepitonthedeck side ragged and displayed some top class finishing skills all night.

Return of the Mack are not yet through to the semi final stage despite this win but surely a win next Monday in a huge game vs  The Best would all but secure them a guaranteed top 4 spot. A loss however on the other hand will have the Return of the Mack side on edge needing 6 points from their last 3 games albeit one of them being against tournament whipping boys Cabra.

Keepitonthedeck will field a completely different side in their game next week as key players return for a huge game vs The Pimps Tuesday night, anything less than 3 points for Keepitonthedeck could now effectively end their hopes of a top 4 finish following their latest embarrassing defeat at the hands of a strong Return of the Mack side.

Key Points: Johno Boyle was on fire and is a real bet to win the top goal scorer trophy, Mark Kavanagh also had a solid game for his side. Return of the Mack could have left at half time and still won this one, the cigars were lit long before the final whistle.

Bunch of Mess's 8-4 Arsenal Legends

A first defeat for Arsenal Legends last Monday as the impressive Bunch of Messi’s outfit led by the determined Anto Boshell won out 8-4 on the night. Played in horrendous playing condition the slippy Coldcut Astro surface ensured this game was played at a high tempo right from the first whistle.

Bunch of Messi’s can now be confident of a top 4 finish and a win vs Supervalu next Tuesday night will almost ensure there spot in the top 4 with 3 games to spare. Arsenal Legends will also still be confident of a top 4 finish with win likely vs Cabra next Monday; they will however need another win from their final games against Return of the Mack, The Best or Supervalu to secure their top 4 finish.

This was a tight game in the first half with both sides displaying some top passing credentials throughout. Gavin Donaghue had gone close for Bunch of Messi’s twice before Arsenal Legends responded with an Andy Boyle effort crashing against the post. Bunch of Messi’s talented centre forward Colly broke the deadlock 17 minutes in, the tall rangy centre forward who is excellent on the ball finished following a neat passing move involving the tireless Dane, Anto Boshell and the majestic Gavin Donaghue. Just on half time a great Arsenal Legends move involving Andy Malone and UCD centre half Andy Boyle saw the ball land at the feet of Seamus Daly 4 yards from goal, Glen Somers somehow denied Daly however with a breathtaking stop as he flung across his goalmouth. Somers unfortunately done severe damage to his knee ligaments in making the save which is a huge blow to Anto Boshells’s Bunch of Mess’s as he will be injured for between 4-6 weeks as a result.

The second half proved to be a much more open affair as both sides began to attack in numbers. Just 5 minutes into the second half Arsenal Legends guest player Jeff Goff who was filling in for 1 of 3 key players missing for Arsenal Legends on the night netted with a thunderous strike from 15 yards. The response was immediate however as Anto Boshell fed a clever ball through to Gavin Donaghue who was having an inspired second half, Donaghue controlled brilliantly before riffling an unstoppable drive past Glen Somers. Despite some excellent defending from experienced Bunch of Mess’s defender Maccer it was Arsenal Legends who were to net the next 2 goals of the night. Again it was a Jeff Goff thunderbolt which levelled matters before a quality finish from Andy Boyle gave the Legends team the lead. Bunch of Messi’s rallied and Gavin Donaghue in particular took the game by the scruff of the neck as he began to impose himself in midfield. Former Sunderland player Donaghue dispossessed Andy Boyle on the edge of his own box before leaving Boyle in his wake, Donaghue then raced past 2 defenders before rounding Jamie Garamanli in the Arsenal Legends goal and slotting home to make it 3-3. Soon after a run by Dane saw Sean Fitz clear the ball away from danger 18 yards from goal, at least Arsenal Legends thought it was away from danger, Gavin Donaghue had other idea’s however as he unleashed an absolute pile driver of a shot which flew into the net like a rocket.

Now at 4-3 Bunch of Mess’s were in control and it wasn’t long before Colly added a fifth with a superb finish following some slack defending in the Arsenal Legends rearguard. Andy Boyle was next on the score sheet with his second of the night as Arsenal Legends pulled the game back to 5-4 but that proved to be the end of their fight back as Gavin Donaghue registered his 4th of the night before Anto Boshell struck an absolute peach of a goal from 14 yards. Maccer ended the scoring soon after for Bunch of Messi’s with a well deserved goal following another steady display from the Bunch of Messi’s central defender.

Key Points: A top class display from Bunch of Messi’s as Anto Boshells troops took a giant step towards the semi final. Gavin Donaghue was man of the match on the night but there wasn’t a bad display among the 7 Bunch of Messi’s players in truth, a true team effort!!

The Pimps 6-4 The Best

A game filled with commitment saw new side The Pimps register their opening win of the Parmo7aside against The Best last night at a rainy Coldcut Astro Park. The Pimps who had a squad of 8 for the game used their substitute to great effect as they looked the sharper of the 2 sides early on.

Despite taking the lead however when Gaz finished well following a run from Git it was The Best who were more potent in front of goal as Dorton struck twice to put his The Best side 2-1 ahead. The Pimps responded well however and a well hit effort from Brendan flew into the back of the net from 12 yards. 5 minutes later Aido struck for The Pimps after just returning to the field of play following a short brake as The Pimps continued with their one on one off substitute policy. With half time approaching Paul Dillon missed a guilt edged opportunity for his The Best side as Ross denied him well with a finger tipped save following a strike from 6 yards. The Pimps added a 4th just on half time as the impressive Git who had appeared for Bunch of Messi’s the previous night struck following a clever ball from the fleet footed Seany in The Pimps midfield.

The second half saw The Best come out determined to turn the game and they assumed complete control of the game. Johno Kelly was twice denied by Ross, while an effort from Jeff Goff flew just wide. The Pimps eventually settled into the second half 15 minutes in and following an effort from Git centre mid Gaz pounced to make it 5-2. The Best again upped their game but were struggling to break down a hard working Pimps side. It was The Best.FC Palmerstown Rangers player Gilly who eventually managed to finish for his side with 14 minutes to go, The Best could now sense a comeback. Paul Dillon was again wasteful in front of goal following a cross from Dorton and from the resulting break away The Pimps put the game to bed. A great run by Git was followed by a superb curling effort which beat Andy in The Best goal for his second goal of the night and his 3rd of the tournament adding a strike he had already registered playing with Bunch of Messi’s. Jeff Goff completed the scoring on the night as he registered a consolation goal 4 minutes from time to make it 6-4.

Key Points: The Pimps look like a good astro team and their hard working aggressive style should see them push for a top 4 finish. The Best were poor in front of goal all night and they now have a vital game vs Return of the Mack next week, a game they need something from.

 Supervalu 11-3 Cabra

Supervalu climbed to 5th Tuesday night following a convincing victory against Cabra at a wet Coldcut Astro Park. Supervalu who started the game with 4 new players were much stronger than in previous weeks and it showed as they dominated this one from start to finish. Cabra never really liked like beating the Supervalu outfit at any stage of this game despite having a decent opening 20 minutes. Cabra who were missing 3 key players on the night registered 3 goals via Macken (2) and Paddy however Supervalu keeper Rossi had little to do all game but did manage to pull off 2 very good stops at crucial stages during the game.

Anto Notaro registered a hat trick for Supervalu on the night with Snowy and John Dunne both bagging a brace; Johnathon Holmes and Stephen Holmes both netted single strikes along with Lee Smith and the committed Gavin Clifford. David Holmes troops now go into their game vs Bunch of Messi’s next week knowing that a shock victory could land them with a huge opportunity of finishing in the top 4. With 4 games to play Supervalu will need 7 points or so to finish in the top 4 places so a result vs Bunch of Messi’s next week will be a huge lift. Cabra know defeat against Arsenal Legends next Monday will all but end their chances of a top 4 finish so the return of Figo, Younger and Kieran will be most welcome following this crushing defeat.

Key Points: Supervalu cruised to victory, Gav Clifford led by example from the back, the Supervalu vs Bunch of Messi’s game next week is now a huge game as Supervalu will either be 7 points behind Bunch of Messi’s or 1 point behind them depending on how the result goes.
