The Pimps 24-2 Cabra

The Pimps strolled to victory in the 8pm kick off in scorching sunshine in the Coldcut Astro Park last Tuesday the 23rd of June. The 24-2 victory against a disastrous Cabra side means the Pimps have set a new record league win for the Parmo7aside.

Where do you begin to summarize such a score line? This was a mere stroll in the park ahead of next week’s 9pm semi final kick off vs Arsenal Legends for the seemingly unstoppable Pimps side. A true none contest of a game was over by half time as The Pimps raced into a 6-1 lead. The first strike came from team leader Brendan Mac before Gary Curran, a brace from Darren Martin, Neil Byrne and a second of the night for Brendan had ended this as a contest. Cabra’s only worthy first half attempt at goal did produce a consolation goal as Stephen Juppe bagged his first goal of the tournament.

The second half was again a mere doddle for The Pimps as they toyed with Cabra from start to finish. Other sides in the Parmo7aside have suggested in recent weeks that The Pimps side were nothing more than a kicking team who bully their way to victory and who do not play the game as it should be played!.......This is absolute rubbish and the manner in which The Pimps passed and controlled this game is proof that the winners of the league period are not just a physical team, they can play football on the deck and have some real talent throughout their side. The Pimps are a great team to watch and their 100 percent committed style has them as the out and out favourites to win this year’s tournament when the final takes place on the 7th of July.

A Neil Byrne brace made it 8-1 early in the second half for The Pimps before Gary Curran drilled home a 9th and then Brendan Mac completed his hat trick which a neat finish from 13 yards. Now at 10-1 Cabra did respond briefly and a cracking strike from distance by Sean Daly nestled past Richie in The Pimps goal who was more or less a spectator all game. At the other end Brendan Mac resumed The Pimps into scoring mode with his 4th of the night before Gilly and then a drive from Git from 14 yards made it 13-2. Darren Martin then showed electric pace and composure in front of goal to make it 14-1 before Neil Byrne bagged a quick fire brace to bring his tournament tally to 12 goals.

16-2 up The Pimps were showing no mercy and Gray Curran raced through on goal to complete his hat trick before man of the match Darren Martin made it 18-2 with another well taken goal. Gary Curran then completed a second hat trick of the night within the space of 4 minutes as the Cabra defence was marked absent and the team in general demoralized with a 21-2 score line. The punishment was finished yet for Cabra however and a through ball from Brendan Mac saw Darren Martin bag his 5th of the night and his teams 22nd with 6 minutes to go. Brendan Mac was next to score as he fried home his 5th of the night to make it 23-2 and then amazingly before the end the electric Darren Martin completed his second hat trick of the night by scoring his teams 24th goal in a 24-2 trouncing of Cabra who are now officially relegated from playing in the next Parmo7aside tournament after this record defeat.

Key Points: The Pimps proved they are not only a physical side but they can really play great football to, The Pimps are great to watch and anyone looking to lay back and flake out in the sun next Tuesday should do so up in the Coldcut at 9pm whilst watching this excellent side take on Arsenal Legends in the semi final of the Parmo7aside in what will be a cracking game of football.

Arsenal Legends 14-12 The Best

A cracking game from start to finish Tuesday night saw the Arsenal Legends scrape through to the Parmo7aside semi final following a narrow 14-12 victory over a battling The Best side. Arsenal Legends can now look forward to a huge semi final next week were they will face tournament favourites The Pimps.

The Legends began this game the brighter of the two sides and goals from Dean Robinson, Seamus Daly UCD centre half and Leicester City full time professional footballer Johny Hayes saw them race into a 4 goal lead. The Best responded however and their physical approach began to take effect on the young Legends side. Dugsy and Johno Kelly both scored to peg the game back to 4-2 but a brake away goal 18 minutes in from speed merchant Johny Hayes gave the Legends a 5-2 advantage.

5-2 up at half time The Best had a mountain to climb. A brief half time team talk among themselves saw the Best come out like a house on fire in the second half, goals from Paul Dillon, Jeff Geoff, Dano and a brace from Cherry Orchards Luke Kelly amazingly saw the best race into a 7-5 lead. It was to get even better for The Best minutes later as Paul Dillon saw a low drive creep under Arsenal Legends Rep of Ireland under age goalkeeper Greg Murray at his near post.

The Arsenal Legends response to going 8-5 down was immediate and Andy Boyle and Dean Robinson both struck within the space of 2 minutes before a solo run from Johny Hayes saw him bag his hat trick.  Dean Robinson then amazingly gave the Legends a 9-8 lead with his hat trick before Andy Boyle also completed his hat trick to make it 10-8 with just 13 minutes remaining.

The Best refused to lay down however and the lively Paul Dillon skipped inside two challenges before firing in a 9th The Best goal. Minutes later Mark Kelly struck to level the game at 10-10 and with just 7 minutes to go Supervalu were looking good to progress via this game finishing in a draw. An amazing finish to this game was in store however and six goals were scored in the final 7 minutes as both sides went for broke. Seamus Daly and Andy Boyle struck to give the Arsenal Legends a 12-10 lead but miraculously The Best still would not lay down and Jeff Geoff and Luke Kelly struck goals within the space of a minute. The game now at 12-12 and with just 2 official minutes remaining of the game it seemed both these sides would give way to Supervalu for a semi final spot. Come of the hour come of the man for the Legends however as Gary Smith blasted home from 6 yards following a mistake in the shaky The Best defence. With time up The Best went all out attack and were inevitably caught with a counter attack which saw Johny Hayes bag his 4th of the night and in doing so clinching an amazing 14-12 victory for the Arsenal Legends in what was a cracking game of astro park football.

Key Points: What a match, it had everything! The Arsenal Legends scrape through to next week’s semi finals whilst the unlucky The Best side have only their poor finishing in front of goal to blame for their early exit. If this game is anything to go by next week’s semi finals will be cracking games of football.
